Storm Water Retention Basin Project

In 2021, the Village of South Russell commissioned the Village Engineer to complete a Storm Water Study update.  The resulting study identified the installation of a storm  water retention basin south of Village Hall as the highest priority relative to storm water mitigation.  When the area south of Village Hall floods, water runs over Chillicothe Road shutting it down and creating a safety hazard.  In addition, the flooding continues into Chagrin Lakes downstream threatening other properties.  The plan for this project is attached below.  While this is only the first project of several needed, completion of this storm water retention pond will have a definite positive impact on flooding and associated downstream damage affecting many residents in our community.  The project will be paid using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
