Police Chief Michael Rizzo
Michael joined the South Russell Police Department in 1997 and was promoted to Sergeant in 2011. In January 2013, he was appointed Chief of Police. He received the South Russell “Employee of the Year” award in 2008 and 2013.
Mike is a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College (PELC). He’s currently the President of the VEG Police Chief’s Association and also serves on the Chagrin Valley Dispatch Communication Committee.

Police Lieutenant Michael Fabian
Michael Fabian was appointed to the position of Lieutenant on February 25, 2013.
Mike is a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College (PELC) and the FBI National Academy. He currently serves on the Valley Enforcement Group Communication Committee and is the department’s Certified Firearms Instructor.
He began his law enforcement career in 1996 as a Ranger with the Geauga Park District eventually taking a position with the Middlefield Police Department in 2005 where he held the position of Staff Sergeant and was later promoted to Lieutenant.

Sergeant Carl Malone
Carl Malone was appointed to the position of Sergeant in September of 2015.
Carl is a certified reconstructionist for the Accident Investigation Unit (AIU).
He is a certified Field Training Officer (FTO) and the coordinator of our Residential Security Assessment Program.
Additional duties include first line supervision, approval of reports and oversees the Detective Bureau.

Sergeant David Viezer
David Viezer was appointed to the position of Sergeant in August of 2016.
David’s duties include case file management, departmental statistics, and public records management.
He serves as the primary detective and is a certified Taser Instructor.
Dave also serves on the Valley Enforcement Group’s Child Abduction Response Team (CART)
Additional duties include first line supervision, approval of incident reports and managing the Detective Bureau.
